An enthusiast for analytics and process improvement, Yaqi Yang joined the Master of Engineering program at Cornell University in Fall 2014 with a concentration in Data Analytics. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering from Pennsylvania State University.

In Summer 2014, Yaqi interned with Data Solutions in New York, NY. She successfully cleaned and reorganized the database, providing data analysis for pharmaceutical companies to help them achieve FDA approval. Furthermore, she also liaised with two teams to preform research on disease problems with data from the Agency for Healthcare Research & Quality Meps.

During her time at Penn State, she conducted research on Mirametrix eye tracking system. Using data from African coalmine workers, she conducted data analysis and testified the relationship between the coalmine worker and their working condition, and figured out a way to improve their situation. In addition, Yaqi designed an ergonomic device for a patient without gripping ability to use credit card for her Senior Design Project.

Yaqi joined ORIE Master of Engineering program at Cornell to further enrich her knowledge in quantitative analysis and business strategies. She hopes to incorporate her analytical skills to pursue a career in consulting or financial services industries.
