Wei Gao earned his bachelor degree in mathematical economics from Fudan University in China in 2011, where he received Dean’s honor in 2010 and Renmin Scholarship for three times.
As a quantitative finance project manager while attending Fudan, he conducted an empirical research on RMB’s real exchange rate using extended
Engle-Granger model. His task included adopting asymmetric threshold co-integration method to explore relation between
China’s trade balance and RMB’s real effective exchange rate.
Prior to attending Cornell University, he interned at HSBC global banking department. He assisted managers to conduct trade finance as well as credit analysis for clients and got an in-depth view of banking industry. His motivation for joining the Financial Engineering program comes from the desire for a better understanding of financial markets as well as to combine his analytical and quantitative skills.
Wei Gao’s now a CFA level 1 candidate and is interested in a career in financial industry upon graduation.
In his spare time, Wei enjoys rock climbing, basketball and playing poker.
