Gongshi (Tony) Sun earned his Bachelor of Science Degree with Honors in Mathematics and Economics from Nanyang Technological University in Singapore, where he took an honorary scholarship from Ministry of Education and was rewarded Nanyang President Research Scholar for his econometric investigation of Singapore mutual fund industry.

His keen interest in financial markets motivated him to pursue a summer internship with PIMCO. While at the Portfolio Management Team, he designed and created two portfolio analysis tools used by the trading desk, and conducted intensive quantitative research on drivers of macroeconomic trends focusing on Emerging Asia.

Prior to PIMCO, Tony had another internship with Bloomberg in the Application Specialist Department, where he assisted the department head in quantitative equity research on two Chinese energy stocks using Bloomberg and financial modeling tools.

Upon graduation from Cornell Financial Engineering Program, Tony wants to contribute to the field of quantitative finance and pursue a career in asset management or structuring and trading. In his spare time, Tony enjoys mountaineering, playing basketball and poker.
