Dongming received his bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, with a minor in Organizational Leadership and Supervision, from Purdue University. During his undergraduate studies, he focused on taking courses in the area of mathematics and engineering, together with supplemental courses related to Computer Science and Statistics. He also developed multiple mathematical models, using MATLAB, to help simulate engineering phenomenon during his undergraduate research experience.

While interning at Cummins Emission Solutions INC. during summer 2015, he managed a project on redefining and reclassifying all CES part noun names and built a complete new classification method to improve efficiency in searching. During his summer 2016 internship at Fiat Chrysler Automobiles in Shanghai, He managed a project on developing a new classification method of equipment related to the manufacturing of engines and transmissions in the Department of Manufacturing. He also developed a search function inside the Excel Sheet using Excel VBA and a chart auto-generation function to help engineers analyze data more efficiently.

As a student with knowledge and experience in both engineering and data science, Dongming wants to combine these two area of studies together and provide unique perspectives to the current engineering industry and generate innovative solutions for problem solving. He is eager to pursue a career related to Data Analysis or Technical Consulting upon graduation.
