Joy Liu graduated from Cornell University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Operations Research and Information Engineering. Through her undergraduate and internship experiences, she developed a strong interest in logistics, operations, and planning; and was inspired to pursue a career in project management.
During the summer of 2010, Joy worked as a job scheduler at TA Beijing Limited, China, where she familiarized herself with the testing procedures of mobile phone prototypes. Based on customer requirements, she assigned process priorities and optimized a test schedule for three models from Motorola Inc. and Telefonaktiebolaget L. M. Ericsson.
In the following summer, Joy earned an internship position as a project engineer at Compal Electronics, Inc., Taiwan, where she managed a project aimed to produce five lap top models to be showcased at a computer exhibition hosted by Intel Corporation.
Joy collaborated with five engineering teams across different disciplines, a sourcing department, and a manufacturing team located in China to coordinate the schedule and ensure timely completion of the project.
In her spare time, Joy enjoys playing the piano, going to movies, playing squash, and organizing social events for student organizations. She is an active member of the Cornell Taiwanese American Society, in which she has served as the Publicity Chair, Social Chair, Vice President, as well as Advisor on the Executive Board throughout the past four years. She also took on positions as the Marketing Director of Global China Connection and a member of the logistics team of Asia Night in the Cornell Asian Pacific Islander Student Union.
