Transcript - Value-Adding Coursework
I think all the courses that I've taken at Cornell MEng program will help me in the professional arena. But there are a couple that I think were just extremely useful. One of them is James Renegar Optimization Course. I wrote a paper with two PhD students about asset management using optimization techniques and I plan to use it in my interviews in asset management when I come out of the program.
I took a course in spreadsheets-based modeling, which will be really valuable in using Excel in the workplace. Additionally, we had to represent what we did technically in a non-technical fashion.
I would, without a doubt, give an honorable mention to Professor Matteson's class, Statistics for Financial Engineers. I believe that that class gives us a very deep understanding of the probability and statistics involved within the finance world. You get to use r for real world scenarios. And in the end of the day, at least in my experience, that has proved to be extremely useful to be able to formulate something. But at the same time, test these theories and be able to present some accurate and extensive analysis on a certain topic.
