Yujia Ma joined the Cornell ORIE M.Eng. program in 2017. She received her bachelor's degree in Materials Science and Engineering with a concentration in Materials Physics from Nanjing University, China, where she has laid a solid foundation in mathematical and physical reasoning and model thinking.

Yujia has contributed as a team leader in the Mathematical Contest in Modeling, during which she successfully performed mathematical derivation as well as simulation modeling for the research project and was also responsible for composing a 41-page paper. This work was awarded title of Meritorious Winner.

While interning at Ping An Securities, Yujia focused on collecting information of customer companies' operating status and helped with the issuance of bonds. She also participated in an entrepreneurship competition, where she led the team to craft the prospectus of an environmental sci-tech company and presented the whole business plan to the judging professionals.

With further exposure to advanced analytical tools at Cornell ORIE, Yujia wishes to contribute her multidisciplinary background to tech companies' decision making process at the intersection of quantitative skills as well as scientific insight.
